Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal diversity in agricultural fields Raw sequence reads

The study evaluates the potential role of current and historical natural habitat presence in explaining the species richness of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in arable fields. The study conducts a spatially intensive sampling of three agricultural fields in Estonia. The fields and their surrounding landscape have been recorded on detailed topographical maps since the turn of the 20th century, depicting the management succession from forested and seminatural areas to arable fields. Soil samples were collected from each field in a 100-meter grid. Soil AM fungal diversity was determined by DNA metabarcoding, supplemented by measurements of soil physical and chemical properties.
