Maharashtra Rural Community Social Media Survey

The survey consists of both structured quantitative questions based on a Likert scale and semi-structured qualitative questions. The research is an attempt to find out if people in the rural regions of India watch social media and learn and adopt certain practices from the social media content, particularly water conservation methods. The survey was undertaken in the villages of Shirur Taluka (block), Pune District, Maharashtra, India. The survey includes necessary demographic details, community social media use and content preferences, learning and adoption from the social media content, discussions based on social media content and challenges in social media use. The survey responses were later used for exploratory statistical analysis to find out the relationship between online content and practice adoption by the rural community with regards to water conservation.
