Zika virus (ZIKV) is a significant human pathogen with epidemic potential. In this study, we developed a mosquito-to-mouse transmission system to study the evolution of ZIKV during vector-borne transmission. We aimed to understand how transmission route and organ-microenvironments impacted ZIKV diversity and defective genome production.
