资源简介:
The newEuropeReview corpus is a set of seventeen volumes of the complete run of the foreign policy weekly The New Europe that was published between 1916 and 1921. The texts deal mainly with analysis of the First world war developments and reporting on the political and social situation countries in central and easter Europe, as well as under the Ottoman rule. Many of the authors envisioned changes of political borders in Europe that would be more closely aligned along the ethnic land linguistic lines. The weekly offered a radical and unconventional view of the postwar Europe. The corpus reveals how their views were anchored in the prewar political theory and how this thinking evolved during the First world war, and impacted shaping of the new postwar world order at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. The orginal files were downloaded from HathiTrust. Typographical errors and OCR mistakes were corrected. Different peritext elements, such as volume titles, chapter and section headings, footnotes, page numbers, and titles in text of all volumes, were annotated. The structural elements were tagged by one or multiple hash signs '#', reflecting the hierarchicals structure of the volume, footnotes start with  tilda sign '~'. The work is in public domain. It was idigitized and OCR-ed by Google. The file newEuropeReview_metadata.csv contains the identifiers for the source files in HathiTrust, as well as metadata for the individual volumes. The filehe  newEuropeReview_articles_metadata.csv contains metadata for individual artiles published in The New Europe weekly.
