资源简介:
Fusarium head blight (FHB) is one of the most damaging diseases of wheat, caused by a group of fungi known as the Fusarium graminearum species complex. These pathogens not only reduce grain yield and quality but also contaminate harvests with harmful mycotoxins that threaten food safety. This project focuses on understanding the genetic makeup and infection behavior of major Fusarium species affecting wheat in India, including Fusarium graminearum, F. poae, F. avenaceum, and F. culmorum.Using modern genome sequencing and transcriptome analysis, researchers will decode the complete DNA and gene activity patterns of these fungi. The study will reveal how different species infect wheat, what genes make them virulent, and how they adapt to diverse environments. By comparing Indian isolates with global strains, the project aims to identify unique genetic traits and potential targets for disease management. The outcomes will contribute to the development of disease-resistant wheat varieties and sustainable control strategies, ultimately helping farmers reduce crop losses and ensuring safer food for consumers.
