资源简介:
"Archaeologists with Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive survey of the route of a proposed water line in Georgetown County, South Carolina. The South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee-Cooper) proposes to build a large-diameter water line from Wadmacon Creek to their Winyah Generating Plant southwest of Georgetown, South Carolina. The proposed route crosses Big and Little Kilsock Bays and Cedar Creek. The proposed water line will provide non-potable water for industrial uses at or near the plant. The route/easement of the proposed water line lies entirely within an existing electric transmission line right-of-way. All ground-disturbing activities related to the installation of the proposed water line will occur within the transmission line right-of-way. ...
... The current survey employed systematic shovel testing to examine the entire project corridor. We encountered no evidence of any of the three previously identified sites and found no other cultural materials in any shovel tests or surface exposures within the route of the proposed water line or the nearby portions of the transmission line right-of-way. There are no historic architectural resources or historic properties near the route of the proposed water line. As currently planned, the construction and operation of the proposed water line will not affect any historic properties. Further management consideration of cultural resources is not warranted.
Should the construction of the proposed water line be redesigned such that areas west of the existing transmission line right-of-way will be altered, additional survey and evaluation of 38GE172 will be necessary to locate the site accurately and determine its eligibility for the NRHP. If determined eligible for the NRHP, appropriate actions to prevent or mitigate adverse effects to this site will be necessary."
