The project describes and uses a new method to determine the structure of double stranded DNA breaks. It further utilizes this approach to make novel observations regarding how double stranded DNA breaks are processed and protected within cells arrested in the G1 phase of the cell cycle. This research is relevant to understanding how cancer causing lesions are generated and prevented.
