South East Weeds Action Program: Protecting Priority Sites - Greater Queanbeyan - Project 1

The project will commence a management programme to control weed infestations impacting on sites with threatened species and ecological communities in the Greater Queanbeyan area to support the regional South East Weeds Action Program. Five sites, totalling more than 200 hectares, have been identified and may be expanded if necessary. The sites are typically characterised by Box-gum Woodland, Natural Temperate Grassland and/or endangered plants that are being invaded by a range of weed species, including Serrated Tussock, Blackberry and St John's Wort. The project will protect the threatened species and communities through targeted on-ground control supported by detailed mapping and monitoring.
