2024 NOAA Science Report

NOAA has a responsibility to address some of the most important challenges facing society: reducing impacts from hazardous weather, confronting the challenges of a changing climate and balancing the sustainable use of ocean and coastal resources today while stewarding them for future generations. Each one of these challenges impacts individuals’ lives, livelihoods and lifestyles. As the world’s premier oceanic and atmospheric agency, our foundational science leads to the development of understanding, products and services that are critical to America’s ability to address these societal challenges. This ninth annual NOAA Science Report, which tells the story of research and development advancements from 2024, highlights how we are making dramatic strides in addressing these challenges.
