In the quest for a functional cure for HIV infection, combining the nonhuman primate model with new sequencing technologies permits revisiting the viral dynamics in the natural history of infection, producing extensive results in order to provide an in-depth characterization of viral spread throughout the body. This dataset characterize the dynamics of SIV in the blood and tissues in the absence of treatment. In the P-VISCONTI program, six SIV-infected macaques were followed 6 months before euthanasia. The viral quasispecies dynamics were explored by Illumina sequencing of the env gene. Blood samples were collected at 3, 7, 10, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 56, 91, 122, 142, 169 and 183-190 dpi. Rectal biopsies were performed at 29 and 77 dpi, and semen was collected at 10, 37, and 88 dpi. At euthanasia, anatomical samples were collected from LNs (axillar, inguinal, iliac, mesenteric, and popliteal), spleen, GALT (duodenum, jejunum, ileum, ascending/transverse/descending/sigmoid colon and rectum), bone marrow, thymus, lung, liver, kidney, adipose tissues (axillar, visceral, subcutaneous) and skin.
