Artifacts: From Physical to Virtual: Redefining Scientific Events with Immersive Technologies: A Case Report

This study presents a case report on the holding of the Scientific Initiation Meeting (ENIC) at the University of Vassouras in the metaverse. The event, which had 68 participants and 17 interdisciplinary academic works, received a 90% “Very Good” rating for its innovation, accessibility and convenience. Although participants praised the integration of modalities, challenges such as technical issues and navigation difficulties were noted. Recommendations include improving the platform's infrastructure, refining tutorials and adding interactive features such as private chats and networking spaces. The findings highlight the potential of the metaverse to increase inclusion and collaboration in higher education, offering practical insights to optimize future virtual academic events.
