MID-COI: Macro Invertebrates DNA reference library for the river benthos of the Centre of Italy

The resource consists of a curated COI DNA barcode reference library for freshwater macroinvertebrate benthos from Central Italian river ecosystems. The database integrates newly generated sequences (~600 bp) with sequences retrieved from the public repositories BOLD Systems and GenBank. The primary application of this resource is to support routine eDNA-based biomonitoring by improving the accuracy of biotic and ecological index calculations and reducing misidentifications of Central Italian local macroinvertebrates.
