Her Honour discusses the importance of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic), referring to multiple cases decided by the Supreme Court of Victoria which applied the Victorian Charter and/or involved human rights. Her Honour also discusses some cases dealing with the treatment of child defendants in the criminal justice system. Her Honour also reviews two Certain Children v Minister for Families decisions which engaged the Victorian Charter.
