收藏资源简介:
Some schistosome species are capable of interbreeding to produce viable offspring, but the assumption has been that this phenomenon is of little epidemiological or clinical importance, and that the hybrid offspring were infertile or of very reduced viability and fertility, as in laboratory hybridisation experiments. Genotyping has revealed a growing number of populations of schistosomes that have mitochondrial markers specific to one species but nuclear markers specific to another, suggestion that hybridisation might be more common than previously thought. We aim to use whole-genome sequence data from putative hybrid populations in Africa, to better resolve these introgression events. This data is part of a pre-publication release.
