Change in global daily CO2 emissions by sector during COVID-19 lockdown 2020

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has seen populations around the world confined to their homes. This has had an impact on the levels of emissions being produced across numerous sectors. With bans imposed on travel, the aviation sector saw daily carbon dioxide emissions fall an estimated 60 percent by April 7th, 2020, relative to annual mean daily emissions in 2019 . This was the most noticeable change of all sectors. As less cars have been on the roads, surface transport emissions also saw a considerable decline.It was estimated that total global emissions dropped by approximately 17 percent.
