REPRESENTATION OF FEMALE CHARACTERS IN JANE AUSTEN'S WORKS

Annotation. Jane Austen is one of the most influential novelists in English literature. Her novels present intelligent and complex female characters who challenge the social expectations of their time. Through her heroines, Austen explores themes such as education, marriage, morality, social class, independence, and personal growth. Rather than portraying women as passive figures, Austen presents them as individuals capable of rational thought, moral judgment, and self-development. This paper examines the representation of female characters in Jane Austen's major novels and analyzes their contribution to feminist literary studies.
