This study employs single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to investigate the fundamental cellular and molecular differences between two fibrotic skin conditions: rhinophyma (a severe form of rosacea) and hypertrophic scars (HS). The central, clinically observed paradox that motivates this research is that while both conditions involve skin thickening and fibrosis, rhinophyma heals normally after surgical excision, whereas hypertrophic scars often recur or heal poorly. The aim is to uncover the mechanisms behind this differential healing response.
