Antarctic subglacial sediment metagenomes

We aimed to study the hydrogen uptake ability of subglacial sediment from Antarctic. By exploring the hydrogenase genes as well as reductase genes, we identified the potential of hydrogen uptake and evolving ability of local community. In addition, we supplied hydrogen to enrich the hydrogen-dependent species in the sediment. Thus, the populations which were active to response to the hydrogen could be observed enriched in community and their potential in hydrogen metabolism couldd be further explored in metagenome.
