European Southern Observatory - Founding Networks Bibliography, including 1964

This dataset contains a curated collection of journal articles associated with researchers that have been identified as having a role in the founding process of the European Southern Observatory. Publications were systematically retrieved from multiple bibliographic sources to ensure comprehensive coverage and to minimize database-specific biases.The data draw on searches conducted in Web of Science and Google Scholar, complemented where relevant by subject-specific databases such as INSPIRE-HEP and PubMed.All records were manually checked for plausibility and consistency (e.g., removal of duplicates, verification of author identities). Where available, author profile information and additional biographical sources (such as obituaries containing bibliographies) were consulted to validate and complete publication lists.For reasons of comparability across cases, the dataset includes journal articles only. Other publication types (e.g., monographs, edited volumes, working papers, or reports) were excluded. The dataset covers the period until 1964.
