International Social Security System Database

This data set gives social security system data for 57 countries over the period 1961 to 2002 as used in used by Bloom et al. (2007). The data is constructed from information reported by the Social Security Administration in its publication, Social Security Programs Throughout the World, Social Security Administration, Washington, D.C. There are four variables. A dummy variable for universal coverage. A dummy that indicates the presence of a retirement incentive in the system, the replacement rate from the pay as you go part of the system and the replacement rate from the individual account part of the system.
