Rapid sequencing of the critically endangered Townsend's shearwater (Puffinus auricularis) as part of the ORG.one project https://org.one/oo. This species is endemic to the Revillagigedo Archipelago in the Mexican Pacific Ocean and nests on Socorro Island. The main threats on land are invasive species such as the introduced cats on Socorro Island. By sequencing and annotating the whole genome, it's critical to preserve this genomic information, which could be useful to improve conservation efforts.
