This dataset is the half-hourly sum of high voltage (HV) level apparent power from measured transformer data from Western Power Distribution. This was part of the RESO project for 25 separate primary HV level substations that supply the city of Coventry in the United Kingdom. The RESO project is a Smart Local Energy Systems, Prospering from the Energy Revolution detailed design project (https://www.energycapital.org.uk/projects/reso-regional-energy-system-operator/).

The 25 primary substations have an ID code of: 930025, 930026, 930027, 930028, 930029, 930030, 930031, 930032, 930033, 930034, 930035, 930037, 930038, 930039, 930040, 930041, 930042, 930043, 930044, 930045, 930046, 930047, 930049, 930050, 930055, 930061, 930079, 930083. The geographical extent of these primary level substations can be found by aggregating the outlines of the Primary substation polygons from Western Power Distribution, using the primary substation numbers above. The gpkg file containing the primary substations listed is titled 'East Midlands primary.gpkg'

The original half-hourly measured data as supplied by WPD has been given a UTC date time stamp, a local time date time stamp, and was cleaned and then summed to provide this aggregate level dataset for the City of Coventry at a half-hourly level. This provides an historical empirical dataset for a UK city with a population of approximately 367000 in mid-2018 with 145500 domestic dwellings.

The MVA value associated with a UTC datetime stamp is the mean of the apparent power during the following period of time i.e. the datetime stamp is the left boundary for the time period.
