Ecostates raster
This is the updated layer published in December 2025. The dataset categorizes the shrub-steppe vegetation into seven ecological states. The model was trained exclusively in shrub–steppe communities and is therefore optimized for identifying ecostates within these vegetation types; other vegetation types on Monument, outside the shrub–steppe domain, may receive forced classifications and should not be interpreted as reliable indicators of ecological condition without additional, vegetation‑specific training data. The dataset was produced by Open Range Consulting for Central WA National Wildlife Refuge Complex, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, under contracts 140FS124P0258 and 140FS125P0052. The map is intended to support resource management decisions within the defined model domain.
