We used single cell RNA sequencing to evaluate the transcriptional response to Zika infection in human primary fetal brain tissue. Two separate isolates of Asian-lineage Zika virus were used to infect cells, and exogenous treatment with interferon-beta was used as a control. The experimental design consisted of two virally-infected samples, each infected for 48hrs with a separate strain of Zika virus; a Brazilian isolate (BRZ) and a Cambodian isolate (FSS). As a control for viral infection, a third (MOCK) sample was treated with 5% FBS (to mimic viral inoculation medium). A fourth sample was treated with interferon beta (100 IU/mL) for six hours.
