Dataset and Statistical Output: Financial Barriers and Depression among Florida Hispanics (2022-2023)

This repository contains the raw data extracts and statistical analytical outputs supporting the manuscript titled: "The Mental Cost of Insolvency: Financial Barriers and Depression among Florida Hispanics." Methodology: The study utilizes aggregated data from the Florida Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). The analysis focuses on a pooled cross-sectional sample of Hispanic adults (n=2,543) spanning the years 2022 and 2023. Files included in this repository: 1. Raw_Data_Source_BRFSS_FL_2022_2023.pdf Content: Direct output from the Florida Health Charts query system (CDC/BRFSS). Note: The representative population analysis cited in the manuscript (Weighted Row %) specific to the Hispanic demographic is located on Page 3. 2. Statistical_Output_EPIDAT.pdf Content: Analytical report generated using EPIDAT 3.1 software. Methodology Note: This report provides unweighted statistical estimates (Odds Ratio: 1.92; Attributable Fraction: 41.3%) as a conservative internal sensitivity analysis. These findings confirm the direction and magnitude of the association observed in the weighted population data. 3. Analytical_Calculations_Summary.xlsx Content: Excel containing the tabulated raw counts, active formulas used for the population impact estimation, and a comparative summary of weighted vs. unweighted risk estimates.
