The dataset used in this study comprises primary household-level survey data collected from farming households in semi-arid agricultural systems of central India. Data were gathered from 223 farm households, including 108 adopters of photovoltaic irrigation systems (PVIS) and 115 non-adopters, across 17 villages in two administrative blocks. The survey captures detailed information for one complete agricultural year, ensuring consistency in recall and seasonal coverage. The dataset contains socio-economic, agronomic, economic, and environmental variables pertinent to evaluating the effects of solar-powered irrigation. Socioeconomic variables cover household demographics (age, education), landholding size, income sources, and cropping patterns across seasons. Agronomic variables include number of irrigations, irrigation duration, cropping intensity, crop yields, and system productivity. Economic variables capture irrigation costs, cultivation costs, crop income, livestock income, and overall system profitability. Environmental indicators include fossil fuel consumption for irrigation, estimated CO₂ emissions, groundwater extraction volumes, and measures of field-level and economic water-use efficiency. In addition, the dataset records technology-specific information for PVIS adopters, such as pump capacity, investment cost, operational status, perceived reliability, and use patterns. These variables allow assessment of both direct technology impacts and behavioral responses associated with adoption.
