Precipitation, temperature, and snow depth records of the Eggerberg slope (Gradenbach landslide, Carinthia, Austria)Austrian Research Centre for Forests (BFW)Institute for Natural Hazards, Unit of Torrent Process & HydrologyK. Hagen, A. Köhler, T. Zieher, First published Nov. 2026Contact: wasser.naturgefahren@bfw.gv.at OverviewThe Gradenbach catchment is located south of the Main Alpine Ridge in the Schober Group (Carinthia, Austria). It is mainly known for the large, deep-seated, and active rock slope deformation at the Eggerberg slope near the valley outlet, which covers about 2 km². In combination with the dynamics of the Gradenbach torrent, the mass movement poses a significant hazard to the settlements downstream. The mass-movement area was equipped with a comprehensive monitoring system by the BFW. Additionally, to already published data of the mountain water level and slope movement (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21033259), the daily time series of precipitation, temperature and snow depth are provided here. Dataset DescriptionThe precipitation and temperature dataset of the base monitoring station (Fleissner) start in 1968 and ends in 2024. Snow depth data reaches with some gaps from 1973 to 2024. Data of station Pichler covers the period from 1999 to 2024, station Gradenalm from 1991 to 2023, whereas data until 2002 are only available for the summer season Data of Station Troegger are available from 2002 to 2024. Precipitation data are daily sums (precipitation measured from 7-7h), snow depth is measured at 7 h, and daily mean, minimum and maximum temperature data were derived from the hourly values. More information on the test site, the monitoring stations and some selected analysis is provided in the attached as meta ino in English and German language (GRD_Zenodo_V2-EN-fin.pdf, GRD_Zenodo_V2-DE-fin.pdf). Data StructureData of precipitation, temperature, and snow depth are provided as separate files for each station and parameter as follows: Column 1: Date [YYYY-MM-DD] Column 2: either Precipitation [mm] Air temperature [°C] (daily mean, maximal and minimal) Snow depth [cm] where -9999: missing value Column 3: codes 9999 missing values 8888 measured values manually modified (uncertain) 7777 measured values uncertain (not modified) 5555 timeshift (e.g. clockwork-driven chart drum) The data format is CSV, the files are named according to their shortened station name and measured parameter: FLE-prec.csv, FLE-temp.csv, FLE-snow.csv, PIC-snow.csv, TRO-prec.csv, TRO-temp.csv, snow.csv, GRA-prec.csv, GRA-temp.csv, GRA-snow.csv
