资源简介:
Soils constitute the world's largest terrestrial pool of carbon, more than 50% of which is stored below 30 cm depth. Carbon in deeper soil horizons has low lability, making it important for soil carbon stability. Microbial communities are the main catalysts of ecosystem carbon dynamics. Whereas a large body of research work has investigated microbial communities in surface soils, little is known about subsoil microorganisms and their contribution to carbon cycling. Here we elucidated the abundance, composition and co-occurrence of bacterial, fungal and archaeal communities across soil depths under reduced tillage, and conventional tillage with and without additional fertilizers in a 25-year old field-trial in southeastern Australia.
