Seismo-acoustic Network of the University of Florence

The permanent network FI (https://fdsn.org/networks/detail/FI/) is operated by the University of Firenze (UniFi) and consists of seismic, infrasound and microbarometer stations deployed in Italy for the study of natural hazards and atmospheric dynamics. Data collected by the network allows to investigate infrasound wave propagation across the network and seismo-acoustic coupling, providing useful information of non seismic events such as bolides, accidental or volcanic explosions. Infrasound arrivals across the network provide data for atmospheric tomography and the study of ray propagation across the whole atmospheric profile from the troposphere to the thermosphere.

Infrasound and microbarometric sensors are typically co-located with seismic sensors across the network or arranged as arrays of stations. As an example the 4 permanent stations (AMT1 - AMT14) are deployed in southern Tuscany to be operated as a large aperture (1.5 km) infrasound array. Each station is equipped with a MB2005 microbarometric sensor collecting both absolute and differential pressure in order to study atmospheric disturbances spanning from gravity to acoustic waves.

The network adopts the open data policy under the Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY 4.0). Real-time and archived data are available through the Italian node of the European Integrated Data Archive (EIDA) operated by Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV).
