资源简介:
This series comprises the minutes and papers of the Board of the National Research Institute of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine (NRIGGM), which later became known as the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI). This organisation was first associated with Mount Royal Hospital (VA 1280), then the Melbourne Extended Care and Rehabilitation Service (VA 5265) and following that, the Royal Melbourne Hospital (VA 1048). NRIGGM was established by an agreement between Mount Royal Hospital and the University of Melbourne, which was signed on 16 April 1975. The role of NRIGGM was to undertake research, not only relating to the care of the elderly, but also concerning the social implications of old age. Additionally, both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research were to be key functions of the Institute. The Professorial Chair of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine was established in 1975–the first such position in Australia–and the first Director and Professor was appointed in July 1976. The facilities were opened in December 1977. In 1994 NRIGGM was renamed the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI). Records in this series include: Establishment records including correspondence, donors, and funding Records relating to the appointment of Professor/Director Committee minutes and papers Charter and incorporation papers Papers relating to the Clinical School Teaching Fund
