Total RNA including small RNAs was extracted from RA biopsies of six AF patients and five SR controls. Briefly, tissue samples were homogenized in QIAzol reagent, DNase treated and RNAs were isolated using the miRNeasy kit (QIAGEN, Hilden, Germany) according to manufacturer’s instructions. A total of 130ng RNA from each sample was used for microarray assay. After labelling and enrichment, mature miRNA sequences were hybridized to the GeneChip miRNA 4.0 Array (Affymetrix, Santa Clara, USA) and scanned.
