[Description of methods used for collection/generation of data] Data was obtained by monitoring 57 artificial nests mimicking capercaillie natural nests. Nests were installed in June 2022 and 2023 and kept in the field for approximately 26 days, to match the reproductive phenology of the species. The habitat surrounding each nest was characterized at two spatial scales: in 100 m and 500m circular buffers. The distances from each nest to the nearest ski slope and to the nearest road were calculated as variables related to human influence.
