资源简介:
The reproductive success of flowering plants is dependent on pollination. As such, many flowering plants have evolved suites of characteristics to attract and reward pollinators or assist in pollination. A feature presumably involved in pollinator interactions is the androgynophore; a stalk-like structure that supports and elevates the reproductive organs of the flower. Despite its likely connection to pollination biology and widespread presence amongst taxa, androgynophore development has not been thoroughly characterized. Thus, the goal of this study is to establish the developmental and genetic basis of the androgynophore in the Cleomaceae species, Gynandropsis gynandra. Transcriptome data of the androgynophore provides insight on gene function and contributes to our understanding of diversification including mechanisms behind elongation and fusion of floral features.
