We describe the optical alignment and measured performance of the Near Earth Object Surveyor (NEOS) telescope, a half meter class mid to long wave infrared freeform off-axis three mirror telescope designed to catalog >90% of potentially hazardous near-earth objects 140 m in diameter and larger. The telescope was aligned to a wavefront error of better than 224 nm RMS and is diffraction limited over its full field of view. All first order optical requirements were met, as well as thermal and mechanical requirements. We additionally discuss our measurement approach as well as key support equipment and provide some advice for future missions in a similar optical / opto-mechanical architecture.
