Urinary trace elements in children with autism spectrum disorder — de-identified dataset and analysis code

This record contains the complete de-identified dataset and analysis code for themanuscript “Zinc-to-copper imbalance in the urinary trace element profile of childrenwith autism spectrum disorder” (Scientific Reports, under review). Thirty urinary trace elements were measured by inductively coupled plasma massspectrometry (ICP-MS, Agilent 7700x) in first morning urine of 241 children(160 with autism spectrum disorder, 81 controls). The primary analysis cohortcomprises 52 pairs matched exactly on sex and within one year on age. The record includes: (1) analysis_dataset.csv/.xlsx — the final analysis table(one row per participant: pseudonymised ID, matched-pair number, group, sex, age,CARS score, urinary creatinine, and 30 element concentrations in µg/L, with valuesbelow the limit of detection preserved as ‘<LOD’ text); (2) a codebook definingevery column; (3) the two de-identified source files read by the code; and (4) thecomplete R/Python analysis pipeline that reproduces every number, table and figurein the manuscript, including the matching procedure, limit-of-detection handling,all statistical tests and all sensitivity analyses (74 independent verificationchecks included).
