Study on the second generation sequencing of the genome of black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus)

Black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus, family Cyprinidae) is among the Four Domesticated Fishes in China, which has been cultured more than one thousand years and is characterized with its fast growth and delicious taste. The Black Carp, native to eastern Asia, is a large (>1.5 m long), commercially important fish. To date, previous studies on the black carp have mainly focused on the fields of artificial culture, nutrition and feed, and disease prevention and control . Although some findings on the black carp transcriptome analysis are contained , there is a lack of basic genomics research data.
