VPRS 7051 Court of Petty Sessions Gold Buyers Register

Under the Gold Buyers Act 1901 a register of judgements on applications was to be maintained by the Clerk of Court of Petty Sessions. Information contained in the register included: - date of the hearing, - name, occupation and address of the applicant, - particulars of the application including the nature (new or for a renewal of a licence), the district in which the licence was available and the situation of the tenement where the licence would be exercised, - details of the dates of publication of statutory notices, - name, residence, occupation and municipality of ratepayers certifying the character of the applicant, - police officer certifying the applicant, the justice ruling on the application, the decision and any remarks. This particular register contains only one entry and was maintained by the Kyneton Court of Petty Sessions. It was originally identified and documented by a service provider when found in 1986 at the Department of Industry Technology and Resources. An evaluation of f the supplied documentation in 2025 established the volume was incorrectly identified as a department rather than court record. The original series title (Gold Buyers Register) was amended and this series description was added.
