The Origin of White mulberry (Morus alba)

White mulberry (Morus alba) is native to China, and is widely cultivated around the world, however, the origin of M. alba remains unclear. The taxonomy of genus Morus is complex and disputed. To uncover the origin of M. alba and expand our understanding for taxonomy of genus Morus, we combined four different technologies: Pacbio, Oxford Nanopore, Hi-C, and Illumina Hiseq-platforms for de novo assembly of M. alba var. pendula genome. We assembled more higher quality of reference genome for Morus genus. We also conducted the RNA-seq of M. alba var. pendula to annotate its genome. Furthermore, we resequenced other Morus species except for M. alba to perform the population genetical analyses.
