This bioproject contains RNA-seq data from meristem tissue of two pineapple genotypes (Dole-17 and MD2) in response to low-temperature stress. Tissue wascollected from 3 biological replicates at T0-T4 time points, with T0 representing the baseline before cold stress, T1-T3 representing tissue collected after 1-3 natural cold events, and T4 representing the physiological stage at which the pineapple inflorescence is first visible without dissection. All plants were grown in the Dole research fields in La Ceiba, Honduras. This study was conducted to further our understanding of and identify mechanisms for low-temperature tolerance in pineapple and to identify the relationship between low-temperature stress and flowering time. Using transcriptomic data from precocious flowering-susceptible MD2 and precocious flowering-tolerant Dole-17, we performed pairwise comparisons and weighted gene co-expression network analysis to identify cold stress, genotype, and floral organ development-specific genes and gene modules.
