Persian Fallow Deer Buck Fecal Microbiomes

Fecal samples were collected from Persian fallow deer (Dama dama mesopotamica) bucks as part of a study aimed at characterizing the gut microbiome during periods of intense physiological changes, such as antler growth and rutting season. Samples were collected during the 2020 and 2021 breeding periods.These samples were subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing to identify and quantify the microbial community composition within the lower gastrointestinal tract. The data generated provide insights into the relationship between microbial dynamics, age-related changes, and tissue development, particularly focusing on how the gut microbiome influences or reflects physiological processes such as antler growth.
