Chromosome-scale genome sequencing and assembly of Sarcoptes scabiei

Sarcoptes scabiei is the causative agent of a highly contagious skin disease in humans and at least 148 species of domestic and wild mammals, and is listed as one of the most general ectoparaites of mammals. To aid the study of the molecular mechanisms by which scabies mites adapt to a parasitic lifestyle, and the taxonomy and origin of the scabies mites derived from various mammal hosts, here we reported the first chromosome-level reference genome of Sarcoptes scabiei using isolates from rabbits, and resequenced sarcoptes scabiei isolates from dogs, pigs and rabbits.
