Microbial communities in the water bodies of the Alpi Ledrensi e Judicaria Riserva di Biosfera UNESCO (Southeastern Alps)

This dataset contains 16S rRNA gene sequences obtained from the analysis of water and surface sediment samples collected in the Northeastern Alps, Alpi Ledrensi e Judicaria, Riserva di Biosfera UNESCO (Project AcquaViva). The project was funded by the Alpi Ledrensi e Judicaria Riserva di Biosfera, Man and the Biosphere Programme MAB UNESCO. The data were collected in 2019 in 19 freshwater habitats of the Alpine Biosphere Reserve, including different types of small water bodies, peat bogs, shallow lakes and deep lakes. In addition to the AcquaViva samples, the dataset includes two additional samples collected in the Lake Garda catchment area by ARPAV Verona and in Lake Caldonazzo by APPA Trento. After eDNA extraction and PCR amplification, the final library was sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq (PE300) platform.
