A batting and partnership dataset for international ODI and T20 cricket over the last two decades

This dataset provides individual batting performance records and career-level batting partnership records for the One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 (T20) cricket, collected from the ESPN Cricinfo Statsguru database using a Python-based web scraping framework. It is organized into four Excel files: odi_batting.xlsx, odi_partnership.xlsx, t20_batting.xlsx, and t20_partnership.xlsx. Each file contains three worksheets — Master, Test-Playing Nations, and Non-Test-Playing Nations — allowing analysis across the full dataset or within nation subgroups. The batting datasets record match-level innings performances for players scoring at least 30 runs in ODI and 25 runs in T20 matches played between 17 February 2005 and 25 April 2026, comprising 14,019 ODI and 13,726 T20 batting records (27,745 total), with variables including runs scored, minutes on crease, balls faced, fours, sixes, strike rate, innings, opposition, ground, date, and location. The partnership datasets record career-aggregated batting-pair statistics — 3,850 records in total (1,103 ODI and 2,747 T20) — for pairs with at least one century partnership in ODI or one half-century partnership in T20, including playing span, innings partnered, not-outs, total and highest partnership runs, average, and counts of century and half-century partnerships. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first publicly available, cleaned, and structured dataset combining individual batting performance and career partnership statistics across both ODI and T20 international formats, spanning test-playing and non-test-playing nations. It supports research in cricket analytics, sports performance modelling, player and team comparison studies, and sports business or policy research.
