We investigated the role of oral microbiota in development of childhood RTIs. In a prospective birth cohort of 112 infants, we characterized the oral microbiota longitudinally from birth until six months of age (9 regular samples/subject), along with and nasopharyngeal microbiota by 16S-rRNA sequencing. We also characterized oral and nasopharynx samples during RTI episodes in the first half year of life.
