Miseq genome sequencing of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica Serovar Manhattan strains associated to an Outbreak of Human Infections in Northern Italy. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Manhattan

From May to July 2009 fifteen human cases of salmonellosis by serotype Manhattan were diagnosed in Northern Italy and linked to pork-meat consumption. Since S. Manhattan is a rare serotype, an epidemic episode was hypothesised due to the unusually high incidence. After the availability of a genome sequence of one clinical isolate (strain 111113, study PRJEB1854 ) others isolated strains associated to the Outbreak were sequenced using an Illumina MiSeq sequencer with a 2x250 pair-end run. Library preparation was performed using an Illumina Nextera XT kit.
