Magnetic properties of UH3 up to 20 GPa

Uranium hydride UH3 is an archetype of 5f electron ferromagnet. The aim of this proposal is to determine the evolution under pressure, up to 20 GPa, of the spin and orbital components of the uranium magnetic moment in UH3. This will give a microscopic understanding of the evolution of the Curie temperature with pressure, whose decrease has up to now only been measured up to 1.3 GPa. The evolution of the Curie temperature will be investigated in parallel in our laboratory up to over 30 GPa using NV center magnetometry.
