This metadata entry refers to measurements of oceanic carbon dioxide made by Michel Frankignoulle and oceanic ammonium made by Marc Elskens during the Belgica 9919B research cruise on the Iberian Slope in the North-East Atlantic, as part of the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS) and Ocean Margin EXchange (OMEX) programmes. The cruise began on 4th September 1999 and ended on 11th September 1999 with a spatial coverage of +42N to +43N latitude and +9W to +10W longitude.
The data consists of:
-254 measurements of the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in the water column, computed from pH and alkalinity;
-254 measurements of the concentration of carbon (total inorganic) (TCO2) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase), computed from pH and alkalinity; and
-14 measurements of the concentration of ammonium (NH4) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by manual colorimetric analysis.
