Project Proposal: Samoa a New Perspectiv- Towards an Information Society

The purpose of this paper is to develop and ideal vision for a Samoa Intelligent Information Society (SiIS).This report takes a holistic systemic approach in determining and developing an ideal vision for SiIS. It involves evaluating past and current local Samoa everyday living systems, production and services as well as the current impacts of the global community knowledge and technological systems. The results will be used to develop the four phases of SiIS while maintaining and enhance respect for the people ethics and lifestyle including; (1) a Samoa People and Everyday Living Service Platform (SPAELSP); (2) an intelligent Samoa Cultural Systems and Services Platform (iSCRASP); (3) an intelligent Samoa Multichannel-Production-Service Market Architecture Platform (iSP-SMPSMAP) (For example, the internet and web services will require a new service delivery architecture that ties together various hardware and software platforms with the key elements of multi-channel deliver, authentication, identification, security, integration and content billing which is a key differentiator for Samoa’s emerging Production-Service market sector); and (4) a new intelligent Samoa Information Technology-Service Delivery Architecture Platform (iSIT-SDAP). To achieve research goals and objectives we need to do the following: (1) describe the concept of Information Society. Some key questions include: ‘What differentiate the concept of Information Society (IS) from the Traditional Samoa Society (TSS)? What needs changing etc., (2) explore Samoa’s everyday living and culture systems services and production; (3) investigate current impacts of the technological dimension to the Samoan locals.
