DNA methylation in wild Baltic three-spined sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus)

Wild juvenile three-spined sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus) were caught at three different locations with different salinity regimes - two from the Baltic Sea and one from the North Sea. These individuals were sacrificed and gill tissue was dissected. Reduced representation bisulfite sequencing was conducted on DNA extracted from whole gill tissue. This data is used in different analyses, i.e. as comparison for experimental induced salinity changes, in which the fish were acclimated within and across generations to decreased (20 to 6 PSU) and increased (20 to 33 PSU) salinity while keeping one control group at intermediate salinity (20 PSU).
