Dataset for: Gravity induced densification of floating crude oil by granular materials: Effect of particle size and surface morphology

We evaluated the efficiency of different natural granular materials (quartz and limestone) to capture Louisiana crude oil. The data reported in this dataset are results from trials with medium particle size (16-40 mesh) limestone, fine particle size (0.075 mm - 0.3 mm) limestone, and fine particle size (40-100 mesh) quartz. The percent settled oil in four trials for each material using 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 grams of material in 125 mL Erlenmeyer flasks with 100 mL of tap water and 0.5 mL of South Louisiana crude oil are provided.
